Get to know the Planners

Andrea Thompson
I've spent more than two decades working on Bay Street. After starting my own family in 2018, I struggled to find the right balance between work and family life. I realize that many others are in the same camp, and don't have a lot of time to attend to their own priorities. The journey of a parent teaches you that life is no longer about you.
My mission is to provide financial guidance and education to empower Canadians to make their personal finances a priority, in a simple, low friction, minimalistic way. I want to empower you to become more confident and engaged with your finances, and yourself, over time. Most importantly, I believe that developing a relationship with you is key to long term financial success so that you are understood, valued and respected - no matter how much money you have, what you earn, or who you are.
To give back to the profession that I feel gives so much, I am a current board member of the Financial Planning Association of Canada (FPAC) and run the Communications committee for that organization. I am also a volunteer for FP Canada, the licensing body of the CFP designation, where I assist in supporting students through their learning journey towards obtaining their CFP or QAFP designations. In the past, I have also volunteered to both write and mark the CFP exams for FP Canada several times, which has been one of my most enjoyable professional volunteer opportunities!
Personally, I'm the mom of 7 year old twins (boy-girl) and they are my #1 priority! They keep me on my toes and help to ground me (as all kids do)! As well, I cofounded a dance performance company in 2010, Momentum Dance Toronto, of which I'm current a board member, dancer and choreographer. I also enjoy purposeful travelling, hot yoga, cross stitching, long walks with my husband, trying to grow my own vegetables and cooking.

With over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, I am passionate about helping Canadians build confidence in their personal finances and make informed, empowered decisions. I specialize in cross-border financial planning for individuals navigating life between the U.S. and Canada, offering personalized strategies to address their unique and often complex needs.
Clients often describe me as a warm, compassionate listener — a compliment I hold with pride. I believe financial planning conversations should feel approachable, honest, and rooted in trust. Many of the clients I work with become long-term relationships, and it’s a true privilege to be by their side through life’s changes and milestones.
I now live in Tasmania, Australia with my Australian husband and our fluffy cat, Jello. Despite the distance from Canada, I continue to work closely with Canadians — mostly after Canadian business hours. Many clients love the convenience of meeting in the evening, whether it's after work or once the kids are in bed. I stay well-connected and informed, devouring Canadian financial news, industry updates, and webinars daily to ensure I’m always up to date.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me hiking one of Tassie’s stunning trails or volunteering at the local Migrant Resource Centre, where I support new Australians through the humanitarian settlement program.

Shay Steacy
In my almost 20 years of hands-on experience working with Canadians, I’ve gained valuable, real-life knowledge of the financial industry in Canada. In my time as a bank employee, I recognized so many Canadians had trouble finding financial advice that actually helped, because they didn’t have “enough” money for the banks to care enough about them…
So in 2018, I left my bank salary, benefits, and pension behind so I could offer my unbiased financial advice to Canadians for a fee, rather than selling financial products people may or may not need!
My clients are busy raising young families, advancing their careers, or building businesses. And some of my clients are approaching retirement and want to understand how the money they've worked so hard to save can help them live the lives they've been imagining. But all of my clients are often overwhelmed with choice, options, and questions. So I help them sift through the noise, understand what's important in their financial lives, and take action to move forward.
I like to say I’m part money coach, part (unofficial) therapist, but all financial planner. This approach to money isn’t for everyone, but it creates trusting relationships with clients, so I wouldn’t have it any other way!
In my client video meetings, my backdrop is my 10'x32' tiny house on wheels! I've got a passion for all things sustainable (environmental and financial!), and I've been the world's okayest dog mom to Bodhi since 2021.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the financial world, I’ve built a career that balances deep
technical knowledge with a genuine passion for helping people. I’ve worked on everything from
the actuarial side of defined benefit pensions to managing defined contribution plans at the
executive level—overseeing investments, plan design, governance, and communication. But
what I’ve always loved most is making complicated financial topics feel approachable and
helping people be more in control of their money. Whether I’m explaining retirement benefits to
a room full of employees or walking through a client’s financial plan one-on-one, my focus is
always on clarity, empathy, and building confidence.
What I enjoy most is helping people take charge of their finances—whether that means creating
a clear retirement plan, building better day-to-day habits, or just improving their own financial
literacy. I believe financial planning should feel empowering, not intimidating. I'm here to simplify
the complicated stuff, help clients ask the right questions, and work through decisions
together—always with their goals in mind.
I’m also a lifelong learner currently pursuing my Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation
as an associate of STEP Canada. Outside of work, I volunteer with the Financial Planning
Association of Canada and the CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program—because
yes, I actually think tax season can be fun!
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me near the water, spending time with friends
and family—2 or 4 leggers! I'll try almost anything once... whether it’s skydiving or lawn bowling,
and I’ve always got my next travel adventure in mind. Top of the wish list? Antarctica!
